Ena Coach has issued a response following a viral video in which driver Tom Ondieki claimed the company had failed to compensate him after an accident earlier this year that resulted in the amputation of his right hand.
In a statement on Friday, November 14, the company’s CEO, Richard Mogire, addressed the concerns and outlined the steps the firm says it has taken since the incident.
"Ena Investments Limited wishes to address recent concerns raised in public forums regarding the welfare of our employee, Tom Ondieki, following an unfortunate accident while under our employment. The accident happened at Gwoyo area on February 17th, 2025," the statement read.
The company noted that Ondieki had served as a driver for seven months before the accident and insisted that support was provided from the beginning.
"Ondieki joined Ena Investments Limited as a driver and served with dedication and professionalism for seven (7) months. We were deeply saddened when he suffered the accident that resulted in amputation. From the onset, our company has been committed to supporting Mr. Ondieki through this challenging time, both morally and materially," the statement continued.

Mogire further stated that the company has insurance policies in place to protect employees injured while on duty.
"As a responsible employer, we have partnered with a reputable insurance company to ensure all our staff are comprehensively covered against work-related accidents and misfortunes," the statement added.

According to Ena Coach, the insurance claim process began immediately after Ondieki left hospital care.
"When the incident occurred, we promptly lodged an insurance claim on Ondieki's behalf upon his discharge from the hospital. After the due process and documentation required by the insurer, compensation was offered to Mr. Ondieki.
"This offer was communicated directly to him and unfortunately, Ondieki disputed the compensation and requested that all further communications be directed through his lawyer, whose details he provided," the statement further read.
The firm says it also engaged government agencies to ensure proper procedure and support for the injured driver.
"To further support Ondieki, we sought the intervention of the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS). He was provided with all the necessary forms, which have been duly processed and are currently awaiting approval from his attending doctor.
"Our office has maintained regular contact with Ondieki to facilitate the process, but at times, cooperation from him has been challenging," the statement noted.
Mogire reiterated that employee welfare remains central to Ena Coach’s operations and assured the public that similar cases in the past have been resolved successfully.
"We want to reassure the public and our stakeholders that employee welfare remains our top priority. There have been instances in the past where our staff have successfully received compensation after similar incidents, and we are committed to ensuring that Ondieki receives all the justice and support he deserves," the statement added.
The company appealed for continued cooperation to bring the matter to a fair conclusion.
"We kindly urge Ondieki to continue cooperating with our offices and the relevant authorities so that this matter can be resolved in the fairest manner possible.
"Our commitment to the well-being of our employees is unwavering, and we will continue to act in good faith to ensure all procedures are followed and rights are upheld," the statement concluded.
