Safaricom has notified its customers of scheduled maintenance that will affect its overdraft service, Fuliza.
The telco giant announced that the maintenance would be undertaken on Monday dawn, November 17.
According to the company, the maintenance is aimed at enhancing the service for a better user experience.

"We are continually improving our platform to enhance our services, connecting you, our customers, with more innovations and an even better experience. To support this and fulfil our promise of always-on, safe, secure, and worry-free financial products and services, we will be conducting a scheduled system upgrade on the Fuliza platform on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 00:10 Hrs to 02:00 Hrs,” read the statement issued on Saturday, November 15.
Safaricom announced that the timing of the maintenance was strategic to reduce inconveniences.
It went on to apologise to the subscribers for the imminent inconveniences.
The maintenance comes months after Fuliza customers encountered disruption.
On September 30, customers could not top up their transactions due to the disruption on Fuliza.
The company acknowledged the issue and assured users that efforts would be deployed to restore normal service.
Fuliza, a service that enables M-Pesa users to complete transactions even when their mobile wallet lacks sufficient funds, emerged as one of Kenya's most popular financial solutions.
Launched in January 2019 through a collaboration between Safaricom, NCBA Bank, and KCB Bank, Fuliza has experienced rapid growth, now supporting millions of daily users across the country.
To use the service, M-Pesa customers must first opt in.
Once enrolled, Fuliza automatically advances the necessary funds, up to a predetermined limit, whenever a user tries to send money, pay bills, or make purchases without enough balance.
The borrowing limit is determined by the user’s M-Pesa transaction habits and repayment track record.
Any borrowed amount, along with applicable charges, is automatically recovered from subsequent M-Pesa deposits.
Fuliza charges a daily access fee and a service fee based on the borrowed amount, with rates varying depending on the size of the loan.
