One person is dead after reportedly being injected with the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board on Wednesday, April 7 2021 confirmed the death.

Through Peter Ikamati the board said that one person has succumbed after experiencing severe side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

But MoH head of vaccine exercise, Dr. Colin's Taabu who was in the same meeting refuted the claim by the PPB.

He clarified that there is no linkage of the vaccine to the one death adding that it is yet to be established if the death was caused by the vaccine.

Ministry of Health acting Director-General of Health Dr Patrick Amoth last week said the government will offer compensation if anybody suffers permanent damage, dies as a result of the vaccination process.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said on Tuesday noted that 277 adverse effects from the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine have been reported in Kenya.

In a bid to encourage Kenyans to get the vaccine, Kagwe reassured Kenyans that the majority of the side effects of the vaccine clear within two days.

MoH said vaccines can cause mild side effects, such as a low-grade fever, or pain or redness at the injection site but these effects may go away in a few days.

According to vaccination status per county published n the Ministry of Health's website as of April 6, 2021, Kenya had vaccinated 323,592 people across the country.
