Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has mourned the death of former nominated MCA Lynda Aseyo Wamalwa.
In a statement on Wednesday, November 19, Barasa said the former MCA passed on after being involved in a road accident along the Kakamega-Mumias Road.
The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday evening at around 7:00 PM near the Planet Gardens Resort.
The late Wamalwa served as an ANC Party-nominated MCA in the Kakamega County Assembly between 2017 and 2022.
Governor Barasa eulogized Wamalwa as a leader who had a commitment to the needs of the Kakamega people.

“During her tenure at the Assembly, Hon. Wamalwa demonstrated remarkable commitment, keen attention to the needs of the people of Kakamega County, and unwavering loyalty to her party.
“Even after completing her term, she remained in close touch with the community, actively participating in and supporting various development programmes. Her experience, dedication, and passion for public service will be deeply missed,” said Barasa.
The Kakamega Governor also extended his condolences to the family and friends of the late Wamalwa.
“On my own behalf, my family and the people of Kakamega County, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Hon. Wamalwa. May you find strength and comfort in the enduring legacy she leaves behind; one defined by transformative, selfless, and people-centered leadership,” Barasa added.
DCP Deputy Party leader Cleophas Malala has also mourned the former MCA as a compassionate, courageous and dedicated servant of the people.
Malala noted that Wamalwa was committed to uplifting the disadvantaged and voiceless in Kakamega.
“Hon. Aseyo was more than a leader; she was a compassionate, courageous, and dedicated servant of the people. Her commitment to uplifting communities, especially the disadvantaged and voiceless, will forever remain etched in our hearts.
“She carried herself with grace, humility, and a rare passion for public service that touched many lives across Kakamega County and beyond,” said Malala.
This comes a week after Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu passed away.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, in a statement, said the Lawmaker died on Wednesday, November 12, while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
"It is with profound deep sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, the Hon. Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP, who has left us this evening, Wednesday, 12th November 2025, while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital," he said.
Tubi was serving his 1st term as a Member of the House. Previously, he was the Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he served from 2013 to 2017.
Wetang'ula urged fellow lawmakers to remember the late MP for his service and dedication to public duty.
"Honourable Members, as we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Hon. Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents and all those who had the privilege of knowing him," he added.
