Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced that he will seek the presidency in the 2027 general election.

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced that he will seek the presidency in the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Sunday, November 23, in Mudete, Vihiga County, Amisi said he is preparing to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 polls.

“I will come here on 9th to make an announcement; I will not come here to seek an MCA seat.

“When you see Caleb coming here to seek votes, it will be a vote for the President of Kenya. William Ruto, Caleb is coming,” said Amisi.

At the same time, the Saboti MP gave the ODM Party until March 9, 2026, to quit the broad-based government.

“The ODM party, with which I was elected, I am giving them a warning to exit the government by March 9, 2026, or we will deal with them,” Amisi added.

This comes months after Amisi threatened to leave the ODM Party if it aligns with the UDA  party and supports President Ruto in the 2027 elections.

“I was elected on the ODM ticket for five years. If the party continues collaborating with Ruto, I won’t seek re-election under its banner. But if it pulls out and retraces its steps, then we can agree,” he stated.

The ODM MP is the latest politician to declare a presidential bid ahead of the 2027 general election.

On April 28, Mumia East MP Peter Salasya announced his intention to vie for the presidency.

In a statement, Salasya said he made the decision after holding wide consultations and careful considerations.

“After deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the state of our nation, I, Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Election,” he stated.

Other politicians who are eyeing the presidency in 2027 include: Fred Matiang’i, former Chief Justice David Maraga, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, PLP leader Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and Boniface Mwangi have also announced their 2027 presidential ambitions.
