Seth Panyako Arrested in Malava

DAP-K’s candidate in the Malava constituency by-election, Seth Panyako, has been arrested.

In a statement on Thursday, November 27, the DAP-K party said Panyako is currently being held at the Malava police station.

The party condemned Panyako’s arrest, terming it an intimidation tactic against him in the ongoing by-election.

“Our Candidate, Seth Panyako, has been arrested and is currently being held at Malava Police Station.

“This, even after goons under police supervision terrorised him the whole night, injured our agents, destroyed property, and now they want to intimidate him. We will not allow,” the party stated.

Panyako’s arrest comes after he alleged that there was an assassination attempt against him on Wednesday, November 26 night.

Speaking on Thursday morning after casting his vote, Panyako claimed that goons stormed his Down Hill hotel, where he was with his family.

“The government machinery, together with criminals, attacked my hotel, which was also intended to be used as a personal tallying center, and the aim of the attack was to assassinate me with my wife.

“This is because, according to a poll that was done yesterday, I was doing 75 percent while the other candidate was doing 24 percent,” Panyako alleged.

DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa commended the alleged attack on Panyako and accused the National Police Service (NPS) and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials of facilitating it.

“This nefarious scheme we warned Kenyans about yesterday, with my united opposition Co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua of ballot stuffing, state-sponsored violence, and goonism is being executed by the Ruto Regime with Military precision and in collaboration with NPS and IEBC,” Wamalwa alleged.

The DAP-K leader urged opposition supporters not to be intimidated and to come out in large numbers and vote for their preferred candidates.
