ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga on Friday held a meeting with his deputy Wycliffe Oparanya hours after the latter reportedly held a meeting with Deputy President William Ruto.
Reports of the Ruto-Oparanya meeting caused speculation that the two may be in coalition talks ahead of the 2022 general election.
It was, however, not clear if Oparanya was representing the former Prime Minister or was there in his capacity as Kakamega Governor.
Speaking after the meeting Oparanya noted that they discussed several issues affecting the country and the ODM party.

“Today I held a lengthy meeting with my Party Leader Hon @RailaOdinga at his Karen home. We discussed a range of issues affecting our party @TheODMparty and the Country. The former PM also held talks with my brother CS @EugeneLWamalwa,” he tweeted.
Oparanya’s Friday meeting with Raila elicited massive reactions with many claiming that he could have been representing his party leader in the meeting with the DP, and was now debriefing him on the outcome of the talks.
Over the past few weeks, there has been speculation that the DP may work with the former Premier in the 2022 elections.
The DP recently said he has no problems with the former premier, adding that their differences are ideological.
