Migori Governor Okoth Obado was saved from impeachment by Ida Odinga

Migori Governor Okoth Obado was saved from impeachment by Ida Odinga, according to reports by the Nation.

Ida Odinga and Dr Oburu Oginga reportedly saved governor Obado as Orange Democratic Party (ODM) plotted his ouster.

Obado is said to have sought help from Mama Ida, who together with Dr. Oginga intervened even as party stalwarts kept piling pressure on MCAs to impeach the governor.

Insiders reported that Mama Ida and Dr. Oginga saved a situation that could have backfired on the party had the impeachment flopped.

Fistfight

During the impeachment plot, it emerged that a few MCAs are sympathetic with Obado’s plight despite being whipped into endorsing the motion.

A motion of impeachment was expected to be tabled on the floor of the House for debate announced by ODM national chairman John Mbadi.

In late September, a scuffle ensued in Migori County Assembly after rival MCAs clashed over the planned tabling of an impeachment motion against Governor Obado.

A fistfight erupted after pro-Obado MCAs attempted to eject North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba, an ODM-leaning member from the Speaker’s seat.
