A section of the members of the Nairobi County Assembly (MCAs) has appealed to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to probe Acting Governor Anne Kananu over allegations of corruption.
The lawmakers accused Kananu of fraudulently approving the payment of Ksh652 million to a Nairobi Insurance company.
The MCAs based their accusations on the findings by the office of the Auditor-General which revealed that City Hall has been paying the insurance firm Ksh1.73 billion rather than Ksh1.07 billion since 2018.

The AG faulted City Hall for failing to provide an explanation.
"We have seen the executive playing games with the health cover of staff, and the county has lost 29 staff members because they could not access the medical cover. Some county officials are trying to make money from the scheme," Waithaka Ward MCA Anthony Kiragu claimed.
The legislators argued that deep-rooted cartels in the Capital City are profiting at the expense of workers.
Kananu dismissed the accusations as propaganda being propelled by allies of former governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko aimed at tainting her leadership.
She termed them as baseless, stating that the allegations lack proof enough to warrant a probe.
Kananu took over as Deputy Governor (DG) in January 2021 in a controversial vetting exercise.
Her swearing-in as DG halted planned gubernatorial elections from taking place, with critics alleging that the government orchestrated her entry into power.
