Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya met on Saturday, August 8, during the ‘Twine Cietu’ Festival.
In a statement after the event, Gachagua emphasized the unity of the Mt. Kenya region, saying no one would succeed in dividing the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“The Mountain is one. Nobody can get between us. Only Kasongo traitors can try to divide us. But it cannot work,” said Gachagua.

The DCP party leader also expressed his pleasure at meeting Munya during the festival.
“It was my pleasure catching up with my brother Hon. Peter Munya,” Gachagua stated.
This comes days after Munya called out Gachagua, accusing him of undermining other parties in Mt Kenya while popularizing his own.
Munya, alongside Justin Muturi and Lenny Kivuti, also alleged that Gachagua was asking them to dissolve their parties and join DCP.
"Our restraint should not be mistaken for acquiescence. We call upon Hon Gachagua to desist from divisive pronouncements and instead embrace structured dialogue, consultation and respectful engagement among all like-minded political parties,” Munya stated.
However, Gachagua clarified that he has never asked anyone to dissolve their party to join his DCP party.
"I saw yesterday my brothers Justin Muturi, Peter Munya and Lenny Kivuti were complaining that DCP has become too strong and that Riggy G does not want other political parties. I think they are misguided,” Gachagua said.
He added, “We want many political parties in Mt Kenya so that everyone can compete. I have not told anyone to dissolve their party.”
On Wednesday, August 5, Munya accused Gachagua of having dictatorial tendencies and ruled out backing him if he runs for the presidency.
"I’m hoping Gachagua is not a presidential candidate because I would not support that kind of a person to run the country. Those dictatorial tendencies are the same ones we are saying we don’t want in the current government," he said.
