Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of lacking empathy and using the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for political purposes.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 11, the MP said Gachagua had never genuinely mourned Raila, whom he claimed the former Deputy President strongly disliked.

"Rigathi lacks empathy and remorse. He is dancing on a grave of a patriot and trying to make political capital out of the death of a statesman, Raila Odinga. To date, he has never mourned Raila. It is a fact, he hated Baba with a passion," he said.

Junet alleged that Gachagua had now directed the same hostility towards him, citing an incident where the two travelled on the same plane and Gachagua allegedly refused to return his greeting.

"Rigathi has transferred the hate he had for Raila to me. The other day I was travelling with him in the same plane and he refused to greet me. I told him ‘How are you mheshimiwa?’ and he said ‘No don’t greet me'," he added.

Junet also challenged Gachagua's assertion that ODM was dead, arguing that the former Deputy President had no connection to the party or its struggles for political rights.

"Rigathi said that ODM is dead. I’m wondering, what does he know about ODM because him and ODM cannot be in the same sentence.

"When ODM was on the streets fighting for the rights of Kenyans in 2023, Rigathi summoned security officers at 5AM to assassinate Baba. We have to shame the name Rigathi Gachagua," he further said.

Junet went on to accuse Gachagua of seeking political relevance and attempting to rebuild his influence amid what he described as declining political fortunes.

"Rigathi is on a fishing expedition, desperate for attention to salvage is dwindling political fortunes, disillusioned by his lack of national influence, and bleak political future.

"He is a liar, a cheat, a political turncoat, a conman, callous, and extremely unpatriotic. No wonder, he has a dark heart," he noted.

This comes days after Moses Kuria dared Gachagua to declare that he has not, and will not, make a pre-election deal with President William Ruto.

Kuria invoked Gachagua's faith and told him to publicly swear by the holy book on his political relationship with his former boss.

He asked the former Deputy President to book an appointment with the moderator of the PCEA Church, for the public oath, adding that his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, should also be present.

"I challenge Rigathi Gachagua to lift the Bible in front of the cameras and say the following words: I, Rigathi Gachagua, do solemnly swear that I have not made a deal with President William Ruto, and that I, Rigathi Gachagua, will not make any deal with President William Ruto before 10th August 2027," he wrote.

The former CS wants Gachagua to declare further that if he was not telling the truth under oath, then God should strike him with lightning and thunder.

At the same time, he warned the people from Mount Kenya that there is a likelihood that by 2027, they could be the only Kenyans left in the Opposition.

He argued that all the other leaders in the United Opposition were only courting the Mountain to get a share of the millions of votes in the region, but would dump them once they realised they would fail to secure the votes.

"Dear Mt. Kenya people. From what has happened this week, are there any doubts left that you are the only ones who are in the opposition with a view to sending Ruto home?

"All others are there so that your 8 million votes can make them President. If you don't, they will vote for Ruto (And they have said it publicly). If you do, you will start singing'Wantam' as early as January 2028," he stated.
