Former Chief Justice David Maraga is set to embark on a three-week tour to the United States in September.
In a statement on Wednesday, August 12, Maraga’s Campaign Secretariat said the US tour will begin on September 17, 2026.
“Chief Justice Emeritus and United Green Movement Co-Party Leader David Maraga will tour the United States of America for three weeks beginning September 17, 2026.
“The visit follows his nationwide Ukatiba Caravan tour of 43 counties, between February and April this year, during which he engaged directly with Kenyans of all walks of life on the state of the nation,” read the statement in part.
Maraga is scheduled to meet the Kenyan diaspora communities in Delaware, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Georgia, among other states during the tour.

“During his tour, Hon. Maraga will meet with diaspora communities in Delaware, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Georgia, among others,” the Maraga campaign secretariat stated.
The former Chief Justice will also engage with international leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Maraga’s Campaign Secretariat highlighted that the United States is a major source of remittances to Kenya and accounts for between 50% and 60% of Kenya's total monthly and annual diaspora remittance inflows.
“The United States is the single largest source of diaspora remittances to Kenya, accounting for between 50% and 60% of total monthly and annual inflows from abroad (Ksh 380 - 405 billion) in combined cash and in-kind support,” the statement added.
Maraga is among individual wo have declared presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On July 20, Maraga established his Presidential Campaign Secretariat as he advances preparations for his 2027 presidential bid.
The United Green Movement (UGM) party leader said the campaign secretariat, based in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, will be led by Mkawasi Mcharo and David Makali, who have been assigned responsibilities in strategy, policy, diaspora affairs and communication.
"United Green Movement Presidential Flagbearer, Chief Justice (Emeritus) David Maraga, announced today the official establishment of his Presidential Campaign Secretariat in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, headed by two senior officials: Mkawasi Mcharo and David Makali," the statement read.
Mcharo will serve as Co-Executive Director of the Presidential Campaign Secretariat, where she will oversee strategy, policy and diaspora affairs, while Makali will serve as the campaign's Communication Coordinator.
