National Economic Development Party (NEDP) leader Mike Sonko has given indications he could join the Linda Mwananchi faction and be part of its agenda against President William Ruto.
The former Nairobi governor is expected at the podium as the group will be pitching its camp in Homa Bay on Sunday, August 16.
Saturday evening, August 15, Sonko was captured with Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna boarding a flight to Homa Bay.
Without explaining the reason behind his anticipated presence at the rally, Sonko captioned a video of him and Sifuna at the airport as;
"Homa Bay, we are coming," Sonko stated.

Sonko is believed to be strategising for a comeback in elective politics after being locked out of the 2022 general election.
He had sought to contest the Mombasa governorship, but his bid got blocked due to his impeachment saga.
Sonko was impeached as Nairobi governor in 2020, having presided over City Hall for three years.
Meanwhile, his party, NEDP, is actively wooing aspirants ahead of the 2027 vote, presenting itself as a national platform for candidates.
NEDP's development has signalled a significant shift for Sonko, who previously served as Nairobi’s first senator between 2013 and 2017, and second governor after winning on a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017, only to be impeached three years later.
Although Kenyan law prohibits impeached officials from seeking elective office, a restriction Sonko has fought unsuccessfully through the High Court, Supreme Court, and East African Court of Justice, the setbacks locked him out of elective politics in the last elections.
To date, he insists his impeachment was never fully examined and still hopes to be cleared for a political comeback, though he has yet to announce his intentions for 2027.
He has been seeking to popularise his party, announcing that it would field candidates in various posts in next year's elections.
His association with Linda Mwananchi signals his dissent from President William Ruto, whom he supported in the 2022 presidential contest.
Linda Mwananchi has emerged as a rebellious wing from ODM, declaring its intent to resist Ruto’s re‑election campaign.
The faction, which counts, besides Sifuna, Siaya governor James Orengo, Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi among its ranks, accuses Ruto of presiding over corruption, abductions, extrajudicial killings, government incompetence, and attempts to dismantle devolution.
They further allege that Ruto is seeking to hijack ODM in the wake of Raila Odinga’s death, setting up a confrontation with current ODM leader Oburu Oginga’s loyalists, figures such as Gladys Wanga, Abdulswamad Nassir, Simba Arati, and Junet Mohamed, who back Ruto’s re‑election bid.
Oburu's team have accused former president Uhuru Kenyatta of sponsoring Linda Mwananchi.
