Gachagua has claimed that Ruto has damaged his reputation in Luo Nyanza following the chaos witnessed in Homa Bay.

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto has damaged his reputation in Luo Nyanza following the chaos witnessed in Homa Bay.

Speaking on Monday, August 17, Gachagua accused Ruto of orchestrating the attack on Linda Mwananchi during their tour of the county, which resulted in several deaths, injuries and destruction of property.

He argued that the President had 'shot himself in the foot' and had lost favour in the region following the attack while trying to force the people to support him.

"Yesterday in Homa Bay, four people were killed, and 20 others were injured. More than seven cars were torched just because he is trying to force Luos to love him.

"Now he has messed things up for himself. Even the little votes he had from Luo Nyanza are now gone. The man is stuck," Gachagua stated.

The former Deputy President claimed that after losing the region, he lacked the proper backing to secure his re-election in the upcoming election.

Gachagua also hit out at DP Kithure Kindiki, who claimed that he had tried to advise him during his fallout with the Head of State.

He rubbished the allegations, adding that Kindiki and Ruto colluded to impeach him even before the 2022 General Election. The DCP Leader vowed to execute his revenge on the two leaders in 2027.

"The way you planned for my impeachment is the same way we will plan to send you home. We are working very hard, day and night," he reiterated.

His sentiments came after Jubilee Presidential Hopeful Fred Matiang'i claimed that Ruto must have had prior knowledge about the planned chaos in Homa Bay.

“I do not think, and I cannot see how the scale of violence in Homa Bay and the activities that happened there could have happened without the knowledge of the National Security Council and the President,” he claimed. 

Matiang'i further accused the government of spying on the United Opposition Leaders. He intimated that his social media accounts were under scrutiny, and that vehicles with signal jammers trailed them during their rallies.
