Gachagua claimed that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was allegedly after him.

On Wednesday, August 19, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua claimed that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was allegedly after him.

Speaking in Wamunyoro, he claimed that he had received a tip that KRA was looking for him as part of a deliberate scheme to go after anyone in Mount Kenya with money.

Gachagua reiterated that he barely had anything left, adding that if push came to shove, KRA should just arrest him or take his family.

"Everyone who has money has received letters from KRA. I hear that they are also looking for me, but there is nothing left that they can take because they took everything.

"KRA, unless they arrest me, I have nothing. Maybe they can take Pastor Dorcas or our children," he reiterated.

The former Deputy President accused KRA Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi of using the tax agency to mistreat his own people, while allegedly following orders given by President William Ruto.

He declared that he would not allow Muriithi to join DCP to run for Laikipia Governor, and cautioned the residents of the county against voting for him.

"He thinks that Laikipia residents are stupid; that he can hurt them using KRA, then come and be elected as governor. How do you persecute a community and you want to become their leader?" Gachagua posed.

The DCP Leader further cautioned the people of Laikipia against voting for Laikipia East Member of Parliament (MP) Mwangi Kiunjuri, terming him a traitor, over his allegiance to President Ruto.

Meanwhile, he promised that DCP would hold a transparent nomination exercise before issuing party tickets to candidates.

Gachagua made it clear that taking photos with leaders next to the 'I Love Wamunyoro' banner at his home did not mean that he had endorsed them for the seats that they have declared interest in.

Earlier, Gachagua hosted former Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and former MP Omingo Magara at his home. He stated that they discussed the journey to liberate the country and the formation of the sixth administration.
