Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has offered to build a mausoleum for the late Johanna Ng’eno.
Speaking on Friday, August 21, while visiting Nge’no’s family in Mogondo, Emurua Dikirr, Gachagua said he will oversee the construction of the mausoleum for the late former MP.
The DCP party leader asked the family to provide a design showing how they want the mausoleum to look.
“I have agreed. If we can find someone to design it the way the mother wants, I will personally build it because this leader who is resting here was a very close friend of mine.
“If the mother has asked for the grave to be built so that it is not exposed to rain, I will do that work,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua made the pledge after Ng’eno’s mother appealed to him to help construct a mausoleum over her son’s grave.
“I am requesting that the grave be built so that it is protected from the rain. I had asked some people to do it, but up to now they have not built it, so I am asking you to take up the responsibility and build it,” Ng’eno’s mother told Gachagua.
In an update after the visit, Gachagua said he has instructed designers to develop a design that Ng'eno's mother will be comfortable with.
"I have instructed that the designers to develop a design that Mama will be comfortable with. Work should commence immediately," Gachagua stated.
Gachagua also promised to intervene for Nge'no’s brother, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
“The young man who is in hospital, we will also help,” Gachagua added.
Nge’no passed away on Saturday, February 28, along with five others, after a helicopter they were in crashed in Nandi County.
The helicopter went down at Kabiet sub-location in the Mosop area at approximately 4:30 P.M.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), in a statement, said the helicopter was flying from Endebes to Mosoriot when it crashed.
The former Emurua Dikirr MP was laid to rest on Friday, March 6. The funeral was attended by President William Ruto, senior government officials and Members of Parliament.
