There was a scene at a Kakamega funeral Saturday, August 22, when two local politicians physically took on each other in a highly charged political moment.
The drama was in Lubinu Lusheya Ward in Mumias East Constituency, where the rivals eyeing the ward representative post could not stand each other.
The serving MCA, Timothy Wanzetse, could not withstand the offensive from his rival, Wenslaus Wanzetse, who is eyeing the seat in the next year's general election.
Wenslaus accused the MCA of abandoning his voters and embarking on selfish ventures at the expense of service to the public.
"Voters are complaining that after electing you, you started buying properties and marrying more wives; as a leader you must learn to embrace people and share with them..." Wenslaus said.

The aspirant went on a tangent and sustained personal attacks on his rival, prompting the latter to react.
Unable to contain the embarrassment resulting from the dress-down, Timothy got determined to snatch the microphone from Wenslaus, sparking a fight.
The aspirant began the fist fight, with the incumbent retaliating, turning a solemn vow into an ugly spectacle and circus.
Mourners took it upon themselves to separate the warring sides.
This would not be the first instance in which politicians lose calm in public.
A few years back, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya beat up a ward representative who had challenged him at a funeral in the same constituency.
The burial was in Malaha/Isongo/Makunga ward, where Salasya clashed with area MCA Peter Walunya.
In a viral clip, Salasya calmly addressed mourners before ordering Walunya to sit, sparking defiance and a tense face‑off.
The confrontation escalated into a slap from the MP before his security intervened and dragged the MCA away.
Salasya was later arrested over the incident.
