Attorney General Announces Recruitment of Audit Committee Chairperson, Members [Details]

The Office of the Attorney General has announced the recruitment of a Chairperson and four members to serve on its Audit Committee.

In a notice on Tuesday, August 25, the office said the recruitment was being undertaken in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act, the Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015, and guidelines governing the establishment of audit committees in public entities.

"Pursuant to section 73(5) of the Public Finance Management Act 2012, CAP 412A, Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015 Section 174(1) and the Guidelines for the establishment of Audit Committees in public entities vide Kenya Gazette Notice Vol. CXVIII No. 40 of 15th April 2016, the Office of the Attorney General invites applications from qualified and interested persons to fill the following positions of the Audit Committee," the notice read.

The positions advertised are one Chairperson and four members. 

Applicants for the Chairperson position must be Kenyan citizens with a bachelor's degree from a recognised university and at least seven years' knowledge and experience in audit, financial management or accounting.

They must also be members in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), have knowledge and experience in risk management, and meet the integrity requirements under Chapter Six of the Constitution.

For the four member positions, applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a bachelor's degree from a recognised university and at least five years' work experience in either the public or private sector.

The applicants must also belong to a professional body and be in good standing, possess knowledge of public service or government operations, and meet the integrity requirements under Chapter Six of the Constitution.

"All interested applicants who meet the above requirements should submit their applications together with detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, copy of Identity card and testimonials in a sealed envelope clearly marked for Chairperson or Member of Audit Committee," the notice added.

Applications should be addressed to the Attorney General, Office of the Attorney General, P.O. Box 40112-00100, Nairobi, or hand-delivered to the Office of the Attorney General at CBK Pension Towers, 20th Floor, Harambee Avenue, during working hours.

The deadline for applications is September 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM. 

Applicants may also submit their applications online through [email protected], accompanied by scanned copies of the required documents.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original National Identity Cards, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during the interview. 

They will also be required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and clearance documents from HELB, KRA, EACC and an accredited Credit Reference Bureau.

The Office of the Attorney General cautioned applicants against attaching original documents to their applications, noting that only shortlisted candidates would be contacted. 

It also warned that canvassing in any form would lead to automatic disqualification.

The successful appointees will serve on the Audit Committee for a period of three years. 

Persons with disabilities, women, minorities and marginalised groups have been encouraged to apply.

Elsewhere, the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), has announced 19 fully funded Master’s scholarships in the United Kingdom (UK).

In a public notice on Tuesday, August 25, the ministry said the scholarships will be available in 2027 at any approved university in the UK that hosts CSC awardees.

The ministry noted that CSC will conduct the final selection of successful candidates for the scholarship program.

The Ministry urged interested applicants to visit its official website www.education.go.ke under the scholarships section for detailed information on applying for the scholarships. 

The online application portal for the scholarships will open on September 8, 2026, and close on October 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM. 

Applicants are required to submit their applications to the Ministry of Education by October 22, 2026, at 5:00 P.M.
