Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan has joined the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
Hassan was welcomed to the party on Tuesday, August 25, by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala.
DCP Secretary General John Methu also welcomed the Kamukunji lawmaker to the party.
Speaking after joining the party, Hassan said he was happy to join the Gachagua-led party.
The Kamukunji legislator described the DCP as a party committed to advancing the country’s interests and championing change.

Hassan also heaped praise on Gachagua, saying he is a patriotic leader who loves the country.
“I am happy to join the DCP because it is a party that wants what is best for the country and seeks to bring real change for Kenyans.
“The leader of this party is a patriot. Gachagua is a patriotic leader who loves his people and his country,” he stated.
This comes weeks after Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha also defected to the DCP party.
Governor Badilisha was formally received into DCP on Wednesday, July 29, by Gachagua during a consultation forum in Wamunyoro.
On July 24, Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang'ata also joined the DCP Party and dumped the ruling UDA Party.
Gachagua welcomed Kang’ata to DCP and reckoned that the Governor's defection from UDA to his party was inevitable.
"Welcome home, Governor Irungu Kang'ata, where you belong. Today at Wamunyoro Residence, I was pleased to receive my younger brother, , Governor of Murang'a County, as a member of our party, DCP, the party of the moment and the future," Gachagua stated.
The DCP Leader added that since his party already had an elected Member of Parliament and three Members of County Assembly (MCAs), he was determined to have representatives across all elective positions.
"As we prepare for the next General Election, we are determined to be the majority party in both Houses and the majority across County Assemblies," he stated.
