The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced plans to conduct a repeat grassroots election in Lamu County.
In a notice on Tuesday, August 25, UDA National Elections Board (NEB) Chairman Anthony Mwaura said the repeat poll had been scheduled after the board determined that a fresh election was necessary to ensure the integrity of the grassroots electoral process.
According to the notice, the candidate registration portal will open on Tuesday, August 25 and remain open until Thursday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m.
The board will then conduct the verification exercise on September 4 and 5 before holding the repeat grassroots election on Saturday, September 12.
The election will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with party members and other stakeholders expected to adhere to the timelines and procedures set by the National Elections Board.

Mwaura said the repeat poll was aimed at ensuring that the electoral process meets the required standards of fairness and credibility.
"The repeat election is intended to safeguard the integrity, transparency, credibility and fairness of the electoral process and shall be conducted in accordance with the applicable Party Rules and electoral procedures," the notice read.
The UDA board also called on all parties involved in the exercise to observe peace and discipline throughout the process.
"All stakeholders are urged to comply with the prescribed timelines and to maintain peace, order and discipline throughout the electoral process," the notice added.
Elsewhere, UDA and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party are set to receive the largest share from the Political Parties Fund (PPF) in the 2026/2027 financial year.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, August 21, the Registrar of Political Parties John Cox Lorionokou said 48 parties will benefit from the fund.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 23, 25 and 34 (b) of the Political Parties Act and Regulation 6 (1) (c) of the Political Parties (Funding) Regulations 2019, the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that the following forty-eight (48) political parties are eligible to receive funds from the Political Parties Fund (PPF) during the Financial Year 2026/2027 as follows," read part of the notice.
According to the notice, UDA has been allocated Ksh549,970,254, followed by ODM and Jubilee Parties with Ksh293,779,882 and Ksh128,855,930 respectively.
Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has been allocated Ksh68,820,531 and Eugene Wamalwa's Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) Ksh30,154,465.
The United Democratic Movement (UDM) will receive Ksh25,618,298, Amani National Congress (ANC) Ksh25,365,726 and Ford Kenya Ksh24,643,211.
The Registrar of Political Parties allocated the Kenya African National Union (KANU) Ksh22,908,217, Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) Ksh13,130,858 and Maendeleo Chap Chap Ksh12,076,051.
The Service Party (TSP) was allocated Ksh10,056,632 while Martha Karua’s People's Liberation Party (PLP) was allocated Ksh7,203,075.
Lorionokou further noted that the funds will be disbursed on a quarterly basis to the political parties.
"The allocated funds will be disbursed every quarter upon receipt from the National Treasury," the notice added.
