Ruto confirmed that the money would be disbursed to the 13,000 Kenyans immediately.

President William Ruto has announced that his government has released Ksh3.2 billion for the resettlement of families evicted from Mau Forest.

Speaking in Narok South Constituency on Wednesday, August 24, Ruto revealed that each of the 13,000 affected persons will receive Ksh200,000.

He ordered that the funds would be disbursed immediately and asked families to use them to fast-track their resettlement.

"I have come to close the Mau forest issue. All 13,000 people who were evicted will receive compensation.

"Today, I have come here with Ksh2.6 billion, and everyone will receive Ksh200,000 to settle themselves. The money will be disbursed today, not tomorrow," Ruto stated.

The Head of State announced that henceforth, nobody will be allowed to settle in the Mau Forest, and that it would be excluded from the public.

"From today, the forest will be government land, which will be managed by the county government. Nobody will be allowed to invade the forest to cut down trees or cultivate land," he revealed.

Ruto intimated plans to fence off the entire forest to stop human encroachment. He further promised to issue title deeds to families who have land within the forest border.

Meanwhile, he continued to popularise his administration, stating that the Kenya Kwanza government had delivered all the promises it made to the Narok County residents.

These include the Social Healthcare Authority (SHA), lowering the costs of fertilisers, building markets and affordable housing, and decentralising development.

Earlier, the President was in Emurua Dikirr, where he launched the construction of the 8km Mogondo-Cheramgoi-Mogor-Soit road, and announced the construction of a Ksh1.2 billion university in honour of the late Johana Ng'eno.

The President confirmed that the airstrip in Narok would be completed by October 2026, while the airstrip in Kilgoris was already done.

I have brought Ksh1.2 billion to build the university here in Emurua Dikirr, and it will be named after our brother, Johana Nge’no,” President Ruto announced.
