The new changes came following the Kenya Hospital Association AGM.

The Nairobi Hospital has announced new changes to its leadership following the Kenya Hospital Association Annual General Meeting.

In a statement issued on Friday, August 28, the hospital published a list of the new Board of Management that will oversee and guide the Association in executing its mandate.

Dr Barcley Onyambu was re-elected as the Chairman of the Board and will be assisted by Vice Chairperson Samson Mbuthia Kinyanjui.

The AGM held on Tuesday, August 25, also saw Dr Agnes Gachoki elected as Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Committee. Dr Edwin Rono will serve as Gachoki's Vice Chairperson.

"Following the successful Annual General Meeting held on 25 August 2026, the Kenya Hospital Association Board of Management has been newly constituted, bringing together a new team of leaders to provide strategic oversight and guide the Association in advancing its mandate.

Dr Onyambu stated that the new Board was constituted in accordance with and in operation of Articles 38 (a), (b) and (e); 40;42;43;46;47 and 51 of the Articles of Association.

He congratulated the Board members and wished them prosperity as they take over their new roles in the hospital'smanagement.

"We congratulate the new Board of Management and wish them success as they take on this important responsibility of strengthening governance and advancing healthcare excellence," the statement read in part

Other newly elected members of the Board of Management include Anne Njuguna, Moses Ondaba, Wycliff Wanzala and Lekek Chebii.

Dr Magdalene Muthoka, Professor John Mwero and Valarie Akinyi Gaya, who have served on the board since December 2024, will extend their term in office.

The latest leadership changes take effect after a protracted battle over the Association's leadership, which escalated to the court and the Senate.

In March, the Senate took up concerns over an “ongoing dispute affecting the Nairobi Hospital and its parent body, the Kenya Hospital Association”, including issues surrounding board elections, the legitimacy of officeholders, trustee powers, and major financial decisions.
