President William Ruto and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale have renewed the appointments of five members of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Board of Management.
In a statement on Monday, August 31, the institution said Ruto reappointed Joseah Kiplangat Cheruiyot as Chairperson of the KMTC Board of Management for another three-year term.
Duale later reappointed four members representing public interest for an additional three-year term, effective August 28, 2026.
They are Paul Kaino Cheboi, Eunice Wangui Karanja, Hardlyne Lusui and Eng. Dr. Joseph Ouma Atonga.
The five reappointed officials will continue working with other members of the KMTC Board drawn from key government institutions and the college’s leadership.

"They continue to serve alongside other members of the KMTC Board, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Director-General for Health, the National Treasury and the College Chief Executive Officer," the institution said.
KMTC said the board remains responsible for providing oversight and setting the strategic direction of KMTC as the institution works to widen access to health training and improve the quality of its programmes.
"The Board provides oversight and strategic direction to the College as KMTC expands access to health training, strengthens the quality of its programmes and responds to the changing needs of the country’s health sector," the statement added.
KMTC added that the renewed appointments are also expected to provide governance stability as KMTC pursues priorities outlined in its current Strategic Plan, including improvements in training, research, innovation and digital transformation.
"The reappointments provide stability in the College’s governance as KMTC advances key priorities under its Strategic Plan, including training quality, research and innovation, digital transformation, and institutional sustainability," the statement further read.
Elsewhere, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a short application window for students seeking to pursue medical and healthcare courses.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 31, KMTC confirmed that KUCCPS had reopened applications for select courses at the institution.
KMTC stated that the vacancies are available for the September 2026 intake and invited eligible students to apply.
"KUCCPS has reopened applications for selected KMTC courses with available vacancies for the September 2026 intake.
"If you missed the earlier application window, this is another opportunity to begin your journey towards a healthcare career," the statement read in part.
Interested applicants have been asked to check for the available courses on the KUCCPS students' portal. KMTC also announced that applications for Higher Diploma Courses were also open.
Some of the available programmes include The programmes include Certificate in Community Health Assistant, Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician, Certificate in Health Insurance Management, and Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology.
Other Certificate Courses are in Medical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, and Public Health.
Applicants can also apply to take Diploma Courses in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Community Health, Community Oral Health, Dental Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Counselling, Health Insurance Management, and Health Promotion.
KMTC is also offering a Diploma in Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine, a Diploma in Pharmacy, a Diploma in Physiotherapy, a Diploma in Public Health, a Diploma in Radiography and Imaging and a Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
Other courses are Diplomas in Records and Information Technology, Medical Engineering, Laboratory Sciences, Medical Social Work, Mortuary Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry and Orthopaedic Technology.
To apply, students should log into their KUCCPS portal and follow the step-by-step procedure. Applicants are also advised to ensure that they have filled out the forms with all the required information.
