The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 1,631 promotional vacancies for serving teachers.
In a notice on Tuesday, September 1, the commission invited qualified teachers to apply for the vacancies.
“The Commission invites applications from suitably qualified serving teachers to fill the following promotional vacancies in accordance with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers,” the notice read.
The promotional vacancies include: Deputy Principal III - Regular (132), Senior Master II (29) and Deputy Headteacher II - Regular (1470).
According to TSC, successful teachers will be posted to institutions where vacancies exist.

How to Apply
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the online TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke.
The deadline for submitting the applications is on Monday, September 14, 2026, at midnight.
The commission emphasized that only applications submitted online will be considered.
“Only applications submitted through the online portal will be considered. Manual applications will not be accepted,” TSC stated.
The commission also said teachers who applied for the same positions during the earlier advertisement should not reapply.
“Candidates who applied for these posts under the earlier advertisement and successfully submitted their applications need not reapply,” TSC added.
The announcement comes a month after TSC advertised 20,000 job vacancies for teachers in Junior Schools.
In an advertisement on Tuesday, July 28, TSC invited qualified and interested individuals to apply for the vacancies.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 post-primary teacher posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency Based Education,” read the advert in part.
According to the commission, the applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens, hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching Subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.
The applicants must also be registered as teachers with TSC and be unemployed, with no record of exiting teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary grounds.
The application portal was opened on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and closed on Monday, August,31 2026 midnight.
