Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has announced he will meet Rigathi Gachagua for a cup of tea after the former Deputy President returns from his tour of the United States.

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, September 2, Ndindi said he has a fair relationship with Gachagua and other leaders in the opposition. 

The Kiharu lawmaker noted that he and the former Deputy President are not enemies but friends. 

“I have fair relationships with all opposition leaders, including Gachagua. I have a party to build; any collaboration with anyone within the opposition is what we are doing. 

“I believe we are not competitors. When Gachagua comes back, I will go for tea; we are not enemies, we are friends,” Ndindi stated.

At the same time, Ndindi ruled out supporting President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election. 

“You cannot love Kenya and support William Ruto unless you don’t know him. If you know him, you cannot support him and at the same time love Kenya,” Ndindi said. 

The People's Party of Kenya leader said he last talked to the Head of State in 2025, before he was removed as the Chair of the Budget Committee in the National Assembly. 

Further, Ndindi said President Ruto has no chance of being re-elected in the 2027 General Election.

“He can’t come back. I am not chest-thumping, but I have gone around the country; the kind of rage that Kenyans have, he has zero chance,” Ndindi added. 

This comes weeks after Ndindi announced his exit from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. 

Speaking on Monday, August 17, the lawmaker said he has joined the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK). 

 "For the avoidance of doubt, I know you all know that we left the government a long time ago and dissociated ourselves from the wheelbarrow party, UDA. From what I can see, even those with the wheelbarrows themselves will eventually leave and abandon it," he said.

Nyoro said his move to the People’s Party of Kenya would also see him and his supporters take an opposition role.

"As Ndindi Nyoro, together with my supporters, from today, I have joined a party called the People’s Party of Kenya. As members of the People’s Party of Kenya, we have today joined the opposition," he added.
