Speaking on Sunday, September 6, in Washington, USA, Gachagua said he has no problem supporting Sifuna for the presidency

The DCP party leader said the united opposition is open to different combinations ahead of next year’s election. 

“There is no problem; even I, Riggy G, can deputize Sifuna. Is there anything wrong with that? 

“Even Sifuna can deputize me. Sifuna can deputize Kalonzo or Kalonzo can deputize Sifuna,” Gachagua said.

The former DP also hinted at a possible opposition combination of a youthful politician and an experienced one. 

“I have looked at the arithmetic, and we will come up with a formula that you will like. I see a solution where we can blend youthful energy with experience for our country,” Gachagua stated. 

At the same time, Gachagua advised Sifuna to pursue the presidency without being discouraged by his political opponents. 

He said the united opposition will support the Nairobi Senator if he successfully convinces the coalition that he is the best candidate to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 election.

“I have told my younger brother Edwin Sifuna not to be discouraged by anybody; go for it. If you persuade us that you are the best person to take William Ruto home, we will give you the flag bearer position,” added Gachagua. 

His remarks come as Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi movement continue to popularize the movement across the country.

On July 24, Sifuna announced that the Linda Mwananchi team would field a presidential candidate and running mate in 2027. 

However, he refused to answer the question of whether he would be Linda Mwananchi's presidential candidate.

"I don't know why you keep asking me that question. What is important is that we in Linda Mwananchi will field candidates for President and Deputy President in August 2027," he stated.

The Nairobi Senator added that there were many qualified candidates within the faction to fill the two positions. 

He added that what Kenyans need is a President who is not hell-bent on making their lives unbearable.
