Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has visited Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to convey President William Ruto’s message of condolence.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 8, Joho said the trip to Tanzania followed the death of Samia's husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
"I had the solemn opportunity to deliver President William Ruto’s message of condelence and encouragement to Samia Suluhu, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, following the passing of her beloved husband, Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan," he wrote.
Joho said he was accompanied by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi during the visit and assured Samia and her family of their thoughts and prayers during the difficult period.
"Accompanied by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, I assured President Samia and her family of our thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful period," he added.

On Monday, September 7, Tanzania’s Deputy President, Deogratius Ndejembi, confirmed the death in a national address, stating that Hassan died early this morning at approximately 8:00 AM while receiving treatment for a heart-related ailment.
"Fellow citizens, with deep sorrow, I inform you of the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, which occurred today in the morning around 8:00 AM," he said.

Ndejembi extended the government’s official condolences to the Head of State and the bereaved family.
"I extend my condolences to the President, the family, relatives, friends, and all Tanzanians for this tragedy," Ndejembi added. "Funeral arrangements are ongoing in Zanzibar," he added.
In his message, Ruto expressed Kenya's support to Tanzania as the nation mourns its distinguished son, and prayed that the former First Gentleman rests in eternal peace.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Kenya, the First Lady, my family and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania.
"President Samia has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and Tanzania a distinguished son. Kenya stands with our Tanzanian brothers and sisters in this moment of grief," he stated.
On his part, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that he received the news with a heavy heart and termed the death a profound personal loss.
"Mr. Ameir's passing is, above all, a family loss, and it is in that spirit that we reach out to you today. Kenya and Tanzania remain bound by history and shared destiny, and it is as neighbours and kin that we hold you and your family in our thoughts at this difficult hour," he said.
