Details of Sifuna's Meeting with Kalonzo

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, September 9, held a meeting with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at his residence in Nairobi. 

In a statement, the Linda Mwananchi movement said the two discussed the need for leaders to work together to safeguard constitutional democracy.

“This morning, H.E. Edwin Sifuna held a cordial engagement with Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka over a cup of tea at his Nairobi residence.

“They discussed the need for all leaders and Kenyans committed to the country’s future to work together to safeguard our constitutional democracy and strengthen the foundations of our nation,” the statement read.

Senator Sifuna, in a separate post, also reiterated the importance of opposition leaders working together to restore constitutional democracy in the country. 

“We are in agreement that all of us who mean well must work together to save our country from this ‘mambo matatu’ regime and restore our constitutional democracy. Whatever it takes,” he wrote. 

This comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said he is willing to deputize Sifuna in the 2027 General Election. 

Speaking on Sunday, September 6, in Washington, USA, Gachagua said he has no problem supporting Sifuna for the presidency

The DCP party leader said the united opposition is open to different combinations ahead of next year’s election. 

“There is no problem; even I, Riggy G, can deputize Sifuna. Is there anything wrong with that? 

“Even Sifuna can deputize me. Sifuna can deputize Kalonzo or Kalonzo can deputize Sifuna,” Gachagua said. 

The former Deputy President also hinted at a possible opposition combination of a youthful politician and an experienced one. 

“I have looked at the arithmetic, and we will come up with a formula that you will like. I see a solution where we can blend youthful energy with experience for our country,” Gachagua stated.
