In a notice issued on Tuesday, September 15, the PSC said the internship vacancies are under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5.
According to the commission, successful candidates will be deployed to schools at the sub-county level.
“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has declared 1,000 internship vacancies under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5.
“Successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to schools at Sub-county level, where, in addition to acquiring practical skills and knowledge, the interns will play a critical role in supporting virtual learning and other related digital platforms,” read the notice.

To qualify for the internship program, interested candidates are required not to have graduated earlier than 2022, be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialization in Information Communication Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT; or a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education, from a recognized institution.
Candidates are also required to be Knowledgeable in networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management, and have the ability to integrate ICT with Education in terms of e-Learning and content development.
Further, they should have the requisite skills to carry out research and innovation to support the Digital Literacy Programme and be willing to be deployed to any Sub-county Education office on a full-time basis; and have not benefited from a similar programme.
The interns will support e-learning and content development in line with the schemes of work and provide classroom support and training to primary school teachers on the use of digital literacy devices.
They will also assist in the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme and develop innovations aimed at improving the use of digital learning in schools.
Other responsibilities include promoting the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning, helping teachers integrate ICT into teaching, learning and assessment, and supporting school staff in developing key policies and procedures.
In addition, the interns will provide first-line support and maintenance of ICT services in schools.
The internship programme will run for 12 months and will be non-renewable.
PSC mentioned that the successful interns will be paid a stipend by the State Department, at a rate as determined by the Government.
“On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education,” the notice stated.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.
The deadline for submitting the applications is October 5, 2026.
Elsewhere, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has warned members of the public against a viral job vacancy advertisement claiming that the agency has advertised 171 permanent and pensionable positions.
In a statement on Monday, September 14, the agency said the announcement circulating on social media was inaccurate and misleading, urging jobseekers to disregard the information.
KFS explained that the confusion may have arisen from an internal advertisement that was intended for existing employees seeking promotion.
"This misinformation probably stems from an internal advertisement meant for existing staff promotions only.
"This is therefore to inform members of the public that the Service has not advertised any employment opportunities at the moment," the statement read.
