Mombasa County Opens Applications for 3,000 Casual Jobs [Details]

The Mombasa County Public Service Board has announced 3,000 temporary job opportunities for youth, women and persons with disabilities under a county programme targeting flood prevention, drainage restoration and environmental response.

In a notice on Tuesday, September 15, the Board said the recruitment will be carried out under the County Flood Prevention, Drainage Restoration and Environmental Rapid Response Programme.

"The Mombasa County Public Service Board invites applications from suitably qualified and competent youth, women and persons with disabilities for engagement as casual workers on a temporary basis under the County Flood Prevention, Drainage Restoration and Environmental Rapid Response Programme, implemented through the Mombasa Yangu Programme in the County Government of Mombasa," the notice read.

The Board said the successful applicants will be onboarded in phases depending on the county's operational needs and approved deployment arrangements.

"A total of 3,000 youth will be engaged and on boarded in phases, based on the County’s operational requirements and approved deployment arrangements," the statement added.

The vacancies are for casual workers and general labourers, with 1,500 positions allocated to the Transport Department and another 1,500 positions assigned to the Environment Department.

Those recruited will serve for three months on a casual basis.

Applicants are required to complete their employment application details through the Mombasa County Public Service Board recruitment portal.

They must also attach their Curriculum Vitae, certified copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, National Identity Card or passport and any other relevant supporting documents.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 22, 2026.

The county said the recruitment is open to eligible youth, women and persons living with disabilities, while members of marginalised and minority communities have also been encouraged to apply.

The Board warned that canvassing in any form would result in automatic disqualification.

It further cautioned applicants against fraud, stressing that the Mombasa County Public Service Board does not use agents and does not charge any fees for its services.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and will be required to present original copies of their National Identity Cards and academic certificates during the recruitment process.

Elsewhere, Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) has announced job opportunities for experienced professionals seeking to join its part-time tutor panel in various nursing specialities.

In a notice earlier Tuesday, the hospital said the recruitment was targeting highly motivated and dynamic professionals with the ability to deliver results and uphold high standards of integrity and innovation.

"KUTRRH is seeking to recruit highly motivated, dynamic and result oriented individuals of high integrity, innovation and ability to delivery results to fill the following vacant positions," the notice read.

The available part-time tutor opportunities cover eight areas of nursing, including Critical Care Nursing, Nephrology Nursing, Perioperative Nursing and Oncology Nursing.

Other areas include Midwifery & Reproductive Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing and Mental Health Nursing.

KUTRRH is also recruiting for three senior management positions, comprising Director, Human Resource and Administration on a contract basis, Deputy Director, Human Resource Management and Development on permanent and pensionable terms, and Deputy Director, Administration, also on permanent and pensionable terms.

Suitably qualified applicants are required to submit their applications online through the KUTRRH recruitment portal, clearly indicating the relevant job reference number and position applied for.

Applicants are required to complete or update their online profiles and upload their application letters, copies of National Identification Cards, valid practising licences, certified copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and any other relevant documents in PDF format.

Applicants seeking the part-time tutor positions are additionally required to attach their Curriculum Vitae, including email addresses and telephone contacts of three referees.

Candidates holding foreign qualifications are required to have their qualifications equated by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to qualifications recognised within the Kenyan education system.

The deadline for the Director and Deputy Director positions was 5pm on Tuesday, September 1, while applications for the part-time tutor positions are required to reach KUTRRH by Friday, September 18.
