In a notice on Friday, September 18, KRA clarified that it does not charge applicants any fee at any stage of recruitment. 

KRA flagged a fake employment letter asking applicants to pay Ksh 4,500 to secure jobs at the authority.

The authority also said all vacant positions are advertised through its official communication channels, selected media and authorized consultants. 

“All vacant positions are advertised through our official communication channels, our website:https://kra.go.ke/careers and selected media or authorized consultants. Remember: KRA does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process,” KRA stated.

This comes a week after UNICEF warned Kenyans against fake job offers and recruitment scams targeting people seeking employment opportunities with the United Nations children’s agency.

In a notice on Friday, September 11, the organization cautioned that scammers may use fraudulent job advertisements or offers to trick unsuspecting applicants into making payments or surrendering personal information.

UNICEF stressed that applicants should be alert to any recruitment communication that requires them to pay money as part of the hiring process.

"UNICEF does not charge fees at any stage of its recruitment process. Verify all vacancies & job offers through official UNICEF channels, including jobs.unicef.org," the notice read.

UNICEF urged job seekers to independently verify vacancies and employment offers through its official recruitment channels before taking any action.

The organization also warned the public against sharing sensitive personal details with individuals behind suspicious job offers, noting that such information could be exploited by fraudsters.

"Don’t make payments or share personal information in response to suspicious job offers," the notice added.
