 Omanga has set the record straight about landing a government job.

Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has set the record straight about a Gazette Notice, where her name appeared among a list of appointments made by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen. 

In a statement issued on Saturday, August 19, Omanga clarified that she is not Millicent Kerubo Omanga, whom CS Murkomen appointed as a member of the Shikusa Borstal Institution Board of Advisors.

She said that while she shared her first and last name with the appointee, their middle name was different.

Omanga called out those trying to push a narrative that she was still in cahoots with the government, maintaining that she was steadfast in the United Opposition.

"My full name is Millicent Nyaboke Omanga. Those spreading propaganda, sorry," she responded while sharing a screenshot of the Gazette Notice.

Omanga ditched the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), for the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) in March, citing conflict in ideology and beliefs,

Following her departure, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya revoked her appointment as a Member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited.

Reacting to the decision, Omanga was shocked, stating that she was not even aware that she was still a board member. She claimed that some government appointments were made on paper.

The ex-nominated Senator expressed interest in running for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat currently occupied by ODM's Esther Passaris.

Earlier, Passaris announced that she would run for a third term as Nairobi Woman Rep. The Woman Representative, who had eyes on the Dagoretti North Parliamentary seat, dropped her bid to become the area MP.

She explained that she abandoned her Makadara constituency parliamentary bid after consultations with Nairobi residents and the ODM Party leadership.

Passaris said Nairobi residents urged her to vie for the Woman Representative position again in the 2027 General Election.  

The MP noted that serving Nairobi residents was a responsibility she had embraced wholeheartedly and that the feedback from her supporters influenced her to seek another term.
