Daystar University Vice-Chancellor Laban Ayiro Loses Wife

Daystar University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Laban Peter Ayiro is mourning following the death of his wife, Agnes Malesi Ayiro.

In a statement on Thursday, September 24, the university announced the death, expressing sympathy to Prof. Ayiro and his family.

"Daystar University extends its deepest condolences to our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Laban Peter Ayiro, and his family following the passing of his beloved wife, Mrs. Agnes Malesi Ayiro," the university said.

Daystar University said it was standing with the Ayiro family as they mourned the loss, while offering prayers for strength and comfort during the difficult period.

"We stand with the family during this difficult time and pray that God grants them strength, comfort and peace as they mourn their loss," the university added.

This comes a day after nominated Senator Consolata Wakwabubi announced the death of her elder brother, Aggrey Misiko, days after the family laid their mother and his son to rest.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 22, Wakwabubi said the family was still mourning the death of their mother, Mama Alina Namalwa Wakwabubi, when they were confronted with another loss.

"It is with profound shock, deep pain and a heavy heart that I announce the loss of my elder brother, Aggrey Misiko, just days after we laid our beloved mother, Mama Alina Namalwa Wakwabubi, to rest and days after he also laid to rest his son Paul on (4th Aug 2026)," she wrote.

Wakwabubi said the family had lost two important members within a short period, leaving them struggling to cope with the successive deaths.

"Losing two pillars of the family within such a short time has left us heartbroken and searching for strength," she concluded.

Prior to that, comedian and actor DJ Shiti haf announced the death of his father, Richard Ndede Mbanda, following a seven-year battle with cancer.

In an update on Thursday, September 17, the entertainer shared the news of his father’s death, revealing that he passed away on Wednesday morning.

DJ Shiti paid tribute to his late father while reflecting on the prolonged battle with cancer and expressing hope that the disease would eventually be defeated.

"My old man passed away yesterday morning after battling cancer for 7 years. One day, cancer will also die. Rest in power, Omwami Richard Ndede Mbanda," he wrote.
