The former Deputy President reiterated that Atwoli is among the reasons why the country is in trouble.


DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua stated that he will ask Citizen TV why presenter Jeff Koinange keeps inviting COTU-K Secretary General Francis Atwoli to the JKLive show. 

Speaking to Kenyans in Texas on Friday, September 25, Gachagua sensationally claimed that Atwoli had nothing to offer in the conversation about running a country.

He claimed that the frequent Atwoli interviews 'irritated' Kenyans, and had no appeal to the Gen Zs.

"I don't know why JKL keeps on inviting Atwoli. Sometimes these presenters really irritate Kenyans. Why would you want to call Atwoli to a studio and give him one hour? What can he tell Gen Zs? That is a fellow who should be near a fireplace with his great-grandchildren, telling them stories about ogres.

"He should not be anywhere in the national conversation about how to run a country. When I find Citizen TV people, I will ask them if it's a case of lacking people to interview," Gachagua reiterated.

The former Deputy President reiterated that Atwoli is among the reasons why the country is in trouble.

He claimed that he, Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet are the only people that President William Ruto listens to, and did not give him the right advice.

"Ruto is in trouble because he listens to nobody except a standard two top out, a standard six dropout and Atwoli. How could our country not be in trouble?

"When he needs to listen to somebody a bit older, he listens to Atwoli - a fellow who has no idea about the new technological age we are in, where the world is a global village. He still thinks Kenya is about Khwisero in North Kisa," Gachagua stated.

The statements came barely a week after Citizen TV Director of Strategy and Innovation Linus Kaikai denied claims by presenter Trevor Ombija, who accused Gachagua of trying to get him fired from the station after a heated interview.

Kaikai added that Ombija had since acknowledged that his remarks were a mistake and expressed regret over making them.

“This is not true. There was no such call from former DP Gachagua. Such a call would in any case not be worthwhile at RMS. “I have asked Trevor about the remarks, and he says it is ‘a mistake and I regret it’,” Kaikai said.
