Karen Nyamu Blames Eric Omondi After She Was Heckled During Endometriosis Event

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has accused comedian Eric Omondi of being behind her heckling during an endometriosis awareness event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

In a post on Monday, September 28, Nyamu claimed Omondi and the event's master of ceremonies instructed the attendees of the event to chant when she began speaking. 

The UDA lawmaker alleged that she noticed the two making several trips to the back of the venue during the event. 

“I believe Eric Omondi planned what happened when I took the stage. I’m told he and Antonio, the MC, instructed people at the back to chant when I spoke. 

“I had been seeing them make many trips to the back. Then he introduced me by saying, ' We don’t agree with him in politics'; to me, that was the cue,” she alleged. 

The nominated senator also accused Omondi of previously politicizing her humanitarian gestures. 

“This isn’t the first time Eric has politicized a good gesture. Shalkido (RIP) asked me for a motorbike. When I got him one, he thanked me publicly. I believe Eric saw and didn’t want a Tutam person getting any credit,” she stated. 

Further, Nyamu said she had wished the focus had remained on the endometriosis awareness rather than the political reaction to her appearance.

“Yesterday was supposed to be about Natalie and Endo awareness. I wish she was trending today instead of me. I wish all Tv and Radio shows this morning were about her story and not about me,” she added. 

Nyamu was among the guests who attended the endometriosis awareness event at KICC on Sunday. 

However, while delivering her speech, a section of the crowd heckled her while chanting “Wantam.”

Despite the heckling, the nominated Senator continued with her speech. 

This comes days after Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo was heckled during an ODM grassroots leaders meeting in Kisumu. 

The ODM MP had barely uttered any words when the crowd turned hostile and heckled her.
