ODM MP Involved in Accident

Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament Clive Gisairo was involved in a road accident on Monday night, September 28. 

In a statement on Tuesday, September 29, Gisairo said he was travelling from Nyamira to Nairobi when his vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.  

The ODM MP said his driver was able to safely stop the vehicle despite losing the rear right tyre.

“Yesternight, as I was coming to Nairobi from my constituency, we were involved in an accident after being hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max registered to Isuzu Kenya, leased to the Ministry of Interior. 

“The pick-up lost control and rolled down the road shoulder, but my driver was able to safely bring our car to a safe stop despite having lost the rear right tyre,” Gisairo stated. 

The Kitutu Masaba lawmaker also said they were able to assist the two occupants who were in the Isuzu D-Max following the crash. 

However, Gisairo said the two were taken away in a government vehicle before traffic police officers who had arrived at the scene could complete the necessary procedures. 

“We were able to assist the two occupants of the other car who were shortly after whisked away by a GK vehicle without allowing the proper procedures by traffic police who had arrived at the scene,” he stated. 

Gisairo said he had reported the incident to the relevant authorities and that the two individuals have been identified, as well as the officers who whisked them away from the scene.

“I can confirm that I have reported the matter to the relevant agencies and they are cooperating in the investigations and the ministry has identified the two persons in the car together with the other ministry officers who whisked them away,” said Gisairo. 

Further, the ODM MP assured his supporters that he is safe and only suffered muscle strains from the impact of the accident.

“Most importantly I would like to say that we are safe except for the muscle pulls of absorbing the impact. To all my supporters I thank you for the overwhelming concerns and messages,” added Gisairo. 

The accident comes days after two people died and six others were injured after a Dreamline bus collided with a truck along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 23, in the morning at the Mgalani area near Taru in Kwale County. 

The Dreamline bus, which was heading toward Mombasa, rammed into the rear of the truck. 

Photos of the accident seen by Nairobileo.co.ke showed the bus extensively damaged at the front end after colliding with the truck. 

The debris from the collision was also scattered across the scene.
