KPLC Announces Power Blackouts in 7 Counties on Thursday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across seven counties on Thursday, October 1.

In a notice on Wednesday, September 30, the company said the planned outages will affect customers in Nairobi, Kisii, Migori, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Kitui counties.

The scheduled power interruptions will occur at different times, with most areas affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Nairobi County, power interruptions are scheduled along Olenguruone Road, affecting part of Olenguruone, part of Gatundu Road, part of Mzima Springs, Tende Drive, Musa Gitau, Kangemi Waruku, Kanjata Crescent, St. Mary’s School, Nairobi International School, Kabaserian Avenue and part of Convent Drive.

Other affected areas include Muthangari Police, part of Maji Mazuri, Kawangware Gatina, Mbabane, Apple Close, Chalbi Drive, part of James Gichuru, Njumbi Road, IPSOS Synovate, Amboseli Lane, Amboseli Road and adjacent customers.

Another interruption in Nairobi will affect the Kenyatta and Ngumo areas, including KMTC, Daystar, part of Kenyatta Hospital, Kenyatta Estate, Kenyatta Market, Highview Phase 1 and 2, Magiwa Estate, Ngumo Central, Mbagathi Hospital and Mbagathi Girls.

The affected section will also include Highrise, Canaan, part of Kenyatta, Nairobi West Prison, part of Sunshine School, City Mortuary, Magiwa, Kimalel Primary and Secondary Schools, Forces Memorial, Umash, Montezuma Funeral Homes, Akiba 2, Canaan Estate, KEMRI and adjacent customers.

In Kisii County, the Tabaka and Nyamarambe areas will experience an interruption affecting Tabaka Market, Riosiri, Nyabigena, Orencho, Nyakembene, Kiamobundu, Nyamarambe, Ensaka, Gesonso, Mochengo, Nyangweta, Gotichaki and adjacent customers.

In Migori County, the Ikerege and Getonganya areas are scheduled for an interruption affecting the whole of Ikerege Town, parts of Taranganya, Getonganya, parts of Isebania Town, Nyamaranya, Kiamokebe, Gokeharaka and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, customers around Mwai Kibaki Farm will be affected, including Karichuta Primary, Mwichuiri Primary, Kambi Primary, Kahuho Primary, Blueline Market, Rware Water Pump, Rware Bore Hole, AAA Growers, Gitinga Market, Kamburaini and adjacent customers.

The Mukurweini Town area will also be affected, including part of Mukurweini Town, KCB, Rubis, Magunas Supermarket, Telcom, Wakulima Dairy, Mukurweini Law Courts, Omwasco, Mukurweini Hospital and adjacent customers.

Another scheduled interruption in Nyeri will cover Gakindu, Wahundura and Tambaya, including Gathungururu, Kiawamururu, Gatura, Kaheti, Rev Muhoro, Kiawaita, Wanjithi, Rwarai, Maganjo Market, Gachiriro, Ningaini and adjacent customers.

In Kirinyaga County, the Baricho, Kiandai and Thiguku areas will be affected. 

The interruption will cover Kiandai Market, Baricho Market, Riamugaa Village, Kiambwe Coffee Factory, Baricho DO’s Office, Baricho Police Post, Kareria, Mukithi and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, the Maraba and Nyacaba areas will experience an interruption affecting Kirathimo Village, Muthaara Shopping Centre, Kamuthi Village, Kwa Magu Village, Nyacaba Flat, Kwa Wamilia Shopping Centre, Budhia Quarry, Muhaka Estate and adjacent customers.

In Kitui County, the scheduled interruption will affect Katwala, Mbitini and Voo, including Katwala Market, Katwala Primary and Secondary Schools, Katiliku, Mbitini, Kilamba, Kiangwa, Yaathi, Makolongo, Musukio, Kinakone, Kyango, Voo, Kivutini, Kanduti and adjacent customers.
