Orengo acknowledged Linda Mwananchi's success story, but said he would push for change through his own party.

on Thursday, October 1, Siaya Governor, Senior Counsel James Orengo, confirmed that he will launch his own political party.

In a press release, Orengo said that his party will join the Opposition in the fight to unseat President William Ruto in 2027.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for change he believes the country needs,  noting that change, however, could not be achieved without unity and political action.

"We are participating in this journey with the launch of a political vehicle and remain committed to opposition unity and identification of one presidential candidate.

"We laud the Linda Mwananchi success story and remain steadfast. Aluta continua!" Orengo wrote.

Earlier, the Siaya Governor had hinted that he would launch the party during the late Raila Odinga's anniversary. He shared a photo of what could be the party symbol of his vehicle - a blue hat with a green side feather.

"Raila's anniversary is drawing closer. Pata luku," the first-time governor shared.

Joshua Ayika, a close ally of Orengo, claimed that the Governor would use the new party to formally launch his presidential bid. He shared the same photo as the county chief, but with the initials LDP.

Orengo became the second key figure in Linda Mwananchi to launch his own party. In September, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino launched the Mwananchi Party.

Earlier, Babu welcomed comedian Eric Omondi to The Mwananchi Party (TMP). He described Omondi as a patriot, voice of the people, and a champion of ordinary citizens.

The Mwananchi Party leader said Omondi’s arrival had made the party bigger, stronger and more vibrant, adding to the more than 660,000 Kenyans who had enrolled on his party.

“Eric Omondi, welcome to the Mwananchi Party. You are indeed a true patriot, a voice of the people and a champion of Citizens. Your arrival has made the party bigger, stronger and more vibrant.

“The Mwananchi movement is growing. The people are rising. The future is ours. A very warm welcome, Eric! Let us rise together,” Babu wrote.
