Matiang'i told Ruto to take action instead of consistently complaining about the alleged bribery solicitation.

Jubilee Party Leader Fred Matiang'i has urged President William Ruto to arrest the government officials whom he claimed demanded bribes from billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote when he wanted to set up a cement factory in the country.

Speaking on Tuesday, October 6, Matiang'i told Ruto to take action instead of complaining every single time about the bribery solicitation that made Dangote set up shop elsewhere.

He reminded the President that he was in charge of the country and had access to all resources to bring the individuals to book.

"If, for example, there was a case where Dangote came here and he was shaken down, I don't know why leaders of government would like to tell us stories. My message to them is simple: act!

"If they have told you who shook them down, arrest them. Who is supposed to arrest them? It is not us; you are the ones with the power. Arrest and prosecute them; you have all you need to do the work," Matiang'i stated.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary called out President Ruto for verbally attacking the leaders in the United Opposition for raising questions about several issues, including the Lamu Oil Refinery contract agreement.

He stated that the insults were uncalled for, but they would not stop them from performing their watchdog role.

"Don't abuse us, and if you choose to, that is your way of life, and there is nothing that we can do.

"We cannot do the job that your mother did not do of teaching you to be a responsible person, that as an adult, when somebody asks you a question, you answer them, not insult," he stated.

The Jubilee Party Leader maintained that he will continue to engage in public debate with other leaders in a respectful manner.

His sentiments came after Ruto claimed that the leaders demanding to know the shareholders of the Dangote Refinery in Lamu only want access so that they can try to demand kickbacks.

The Head of State further called the leaders of the United Opposition idiots, adding that they did not have an agenda or plan for the country.
