Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
In a statement on Thursday, October 8, DCI said the two suspects were arrested following an intelligence-led operation in Marsabit County.
The investigative agency said its detectives intercepted the white Toyota Prado in Moyale town and apprehended the duo.
“Detectives in Moyale, Marsabit County, have arrested two suspects and recovered a Toyota Prado believed to have been fraudulently acquired, following an intelligence-led operation within Moyale town.
“The detectives intercepted the white Toyota Prado, registration number KAR 555M, and arrested the driver, Mohamed Amin, 26, and his passenger, Ahmed Abdulahi Hajji, 22,” read the statement in part.

According to the DCI, preliminary checks on the Prado established that its chassis number did not match with the vehicles’ registration details on the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
“Preliminary checks established that the vehicle’s chassis number did not correspond with the registration details held by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), raising suspicion that the vehicle had been tampered with or fraudulently registered,’ DCI said.
A search of the vehicle also led to the recovery of an empty pistol magazine and a pistol holster, both concealed in a glove.
The two suspects remain in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment in court.
This comes a month after detectives arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen Isuzu FRR lorry.
In a statement on Monday, August 17, DCI said the lorry was stolen in Naivasha on Sunday, August 16.
“Detectives from Teso South, in collaboration with officers from Adungosi Police Station, have apprehended two suspects and recovered a stolen Isuzu FRR lorry that was stolen in Naivasha on August 16, 2026,” read the statement in part.
According to the DCI, the stolen lorry was intercepted by officers along the Adungosi–Buteba Road.
The detectives arrested Ayo Haruna, a Ugandan national who was driving the lorry, together with his accomplice, Kipserem Abdalla.
The investigative agency further said the two suspects were taken into custody and are awaiting transfer to DCI Naivasha for further processing.
