The government has highlighted the transformation of the former 63-year-old Anderson-Ofafa Estate in Kisumu into the modern Anderson Park Residence.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 7, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said the redevelopment marked a shift from ageing housing infrastructure to modern residential developments designed to meet the changing needs of Kisumu residents.
"The transformation of the former 63-year-old Anderson-Ofafa Estate into Anderson Park Residence demonstrates this shift, replacing ageing housing with contemporary homes suited to the needs and aspirations of a growing city," he wrote.

Omollo said the mixed-use development was being implemented through a partnership between the Kisumu County Government and County Pension Fund (CPF) LAPTRUST.

"Construction of the mixed-use development began in July 2024 through a partnership between the Kisumu County Government and County Pension Fund (CPF) LAPTRUST," he added.

Phase 1 of Anderson Park Residence comprises 681 apartments spread across seven blocks.
The units include 31 one-bedroom apartments, 464 two-bedroom apartments and 186 three-bedroom apartments.
The development also features 65 retail spaces, creating opportunities for commercial activities within the residential complex and bringing modern urban living closer to Kisumu's city centre.
Residents will have access to a range of modern amenities, including piped cooking gas, high-speed lifts, backup power, borehole water and fibre connectivity.

The development will also feature a gym and a rooftop residents' lounge, while the commercial spaces are expected to provide additional convenience to residents and support businesses within the estate.
A swimming pool is planned for Phase 2 of the development as the transformation of the former Anderson-Ofafa Estate continues.
This comes a week after Omollo announced that the Funyula Affordable Housing Project in Busia County is nearing completion.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 30, he said the construction of the 10 residential blocks is complete, noting that final painting and finishing works are underway ahead of its official commissioning.
"The Funyula Affordable Housing Project (AHP) in Busia County takes the opposite approach, placing decent housing, safety and the well-being of citizens at the heart of development.
"Construction of the 955-unit development across 10 residential blocks is complete, with painting and final finishes underway, ahead of official commissioning and handover to new homeowners," the statement read.
Omollo said that the Funyula Affordable Housing Project combines social, affordable and market-rate homes, widening access to dignified housing for different income groups.
Omollo also said the residents are set to benefit from reliable water supply, secure perimeter walls, cabro-paved roads and a children's play area.
"Residents will enjoy a fully serviced community with reliable water, secure perimeter walls, cabro-paved roads, landscaped spaces, a children's play area and commercial facilities," the statement added.
