Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of five counties on Friday, October 9, to facilitate routine maintenance works.
In a notice on Thursday, October 8, the company said the affected counties are Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Tharaka Nithi and Kitui.
In Nairobi County, customers in Muthaiga and Utalii will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected areas in Muthaiga include AAR Hospital, Country Homes, Muthaiga North, Balozi, Coffee Garden, NIS Training School, Athi Water Headquarters, KFS Headquarters, DCI Headquarters, Wonder Joy, Radio 47 and adjacent customers.
In Utalii, the interruption will affect Traffic Headquarters, KCA University, part of Utalii Hotel, Mathari Hospital, Muthaiga Police Station, KMTC Mathari, Mathari Primary School, Mathari Secondary School, Muthaiga Golf Club and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, customers in the CITAM Church and Mt. Kenya Schools areas will also be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected locations include Kiganjo Coffee Plantation, Mt. Kenya Senior and Junior Schools, CITAM, Good Wood, Gamerock, Chania Village, Chania Secondary School, Kirimara Coffee Plantation, Baptist Secondary School, Dedan Kimathi Water Pump and adjacent customers.
In Murang’a County, the interruption will affect Pundamilia and Ciumbu from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected customers include those around Pundamilia Market, Ciumbu Market, Mihango Dispensary and adjacent areas.
In Tharaka Nithi County, power interruptions will begin earlier, running from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Rubate, Mukuuni and Itugururu.
The affected areas include Magenka, Ndangoni, Mukuuni, Itugururu, Kamwimbi, Rubate, Kambandi, Mukuthuku, Njaina and adjacent customers.
In Kitui County, the scheduled interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Ikuta, Mutomo, Kyatune and Mutha.
Customers affected include Ikutha Subcounty Hospital, Kasaala, Ikutha Market, Muangeni, Ndauni, Mutomo Market, Mutomo Mission Hospital, Mutomo Level 4 Hospital, Uae, Athi, Kitoo, Kyatune, Mathima, Mutha and Kanziiku, as well as adjacent customers.
