Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Kirinyaga counties on Sunday, October 11.

In a notice on Saturday, October 10, the company said the planned power cuts will affect selected areas in the three counties between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

In Nairobi County, the outage will affect Mombasa Road and surrounding areas from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Alpha Centre, REREC Offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knit, Viraj Complex, Crown Health, Auto Express and Total Petrol Station opposite Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), alongside adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, electricity interruptions will affect Lumama and Mugumu from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The areas scheduled to experience the outage include Lumama, Mugumu Pri, Manyonyi, Malaika, Marakusi, Makutano Market and adjacent customers.

In Kirinyaga County, power cuts will affect Gathigiriri and Karira from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Lainisha, Budget, Stadium, MRM, NIB, Airstrip, Mwanikis Residence, Gathigiriri Prison, Mithuthiini, Joseph Muthike, and Kiamanyeki Mwea Mosque.

Others are Karira Hospital, Nguka, Ndorome, Marura, Kangiciri, Gakungu, Nice Borehole and Topgrade Millers, as well as adjacent customers.

Meanwhile, Kenya Power has announced a five-hour disruption to its telephone contact centre services on Sunday, October 11, due to scheduled system maintenance.

In a notice on Friday, October 9, the company said the maintenance would take place between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

"Please note that we will carry out a system maintenance on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 12:00 a.m (midnight) to 5:00 a.m," the notice read.

Kenya Power said the scheduled maintenance will affect telephone-based customer support during the five-hour window.

"As a result, access to our contact centre through telephone calls will be unavailable," the notice added.

Kenya Power clarified that other platforms would remain operational throughout the maintenance period, allowing customers to continue contacting the company through digital channels.

"However, all other communication channels including emails, social media, *977# and MyPower App, among others, will be available. We apologise for any inconvenience caused," the notice concluded.
