Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has resurfaced publicly with birthday photos and an emotional message reflecting on his birthday, which falls on October 15, the same date his younger brother, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, died.
In a statement, Oburu described the coincidence as a deeply personal moment that connected his life to that of his late brother.
In his message, he reflected on the significance of sharing his birthday with the date of Raila's death, describing their bond as one that transcended physical separation.
"Today, October 15th, is far more than just a date on the calendar, it is a sacred intersection of life and eternity. Marking another year of my own birth on this very day brings a bittersweet reflection, knowing it is also the date my beloved younger brother, Baba Raila Amolo Odinga, departed to be with the Lord," he wrote.
Oburu expressed his belief that the shared date symbolised the enduring connection between the two brothers, despite Raila's death.

"To have been born on this day and for you to have departed on this same date is a divine testament to the invisible thread that binds our souls. Physical separation cannot touch a brotherhood written in the heavens," he added.
Oburu said he continued to carry his younger brother's spirit, adding that their relationship remained meaningful beyond death.
"As I mark the anniversary of my birth, I carry your spirit within mine bound by a shared journey that transcends time, and an eternal connection that death has no power to break. Rest peacefully in the light, my brother," he further said.

Besides remembering Raila, Oburu expressed gratitude to the people who organised a birthday surprise in his honour, acknowledging the support he received from his family, medical staff and members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The senator thanked his spouses, Dr. Ann Oburu and Mama Judith Oburu, for their continued care and support, while also recognising Nairobi Hospital staff for their professionalism and kindness.
"I want to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to everyone who made today an unforgettable and beautiful surprise," he noted.
Oburu went on to acknowledge the contribution of his family members and the ODM fraternity, which was represented at the occasion by Trustee Elder Joshua Kawino.
"Thank you to my loving spouses, Dr. Ann Oburu and Mama Judith Oburu, for your constant love, warmth, and care. Thank you to the dedicated Nairobi Hospital staff for your exceptional professionalism and kindness, and to the ODM fraternity, wonderfully represented today by Trustee Elder Joshua Kawino, for standing steadfastly with our family," he stated.
Oburu also extended his appreciation to his domestic staff and the team at Pawaa Centre, crediting them for their dedication and the effort they put into organising the birthday surprise.
"Your love and presence have made this solemn yet special day truly comforting. May God bless you all abundantly," he concluded.
Earlier Thursday, Mama Ida Odinga provided an update on Oburu's health, insisting that he is alive.
She further denounced claims that the Siaya Senator was in critical condition, adding that the doctor had directed him to limit his activity as he recuperates.
"Allow me to convey apologies from Dr Oburu Oginga. Dr Oburu is not feeling well, but he is not very sick.
"He is alive, but the doctors who are looking after him have said that he should go slow and not to come to a rowdy rally like this," she stated.
