Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has alleged a plot to arrest Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
Speaking on Saturday, October 17, Kalonzo said he had received information that the National Police Service (NPS) was threatening to arrest Natembeya.
The former vice president said the opposition will resist any attempts to arrest and harass the Trans Nzoia county boss or any leader in opposition.
“We got information that the National Police Service has issued a statement, threatening to arrest Governor Natembeya and possibly other leaders in the United Alternative Government.
“We want to make it very clear to this regime that we will resist any attempt to harass any national leader, Governor Natembeya included,” Kalonzo stated.

The Wiper party leader urged the government to exercise restraint, saying tolerance is important in democratic states.
Further, Kalonzo said Natembeya would receive legal support and protection if the alleged arrest plans materialize.
“It seems they have gotten more frustrated with the popularity of Natembeya and other leaders in opposition. We just want to caution them that tolerance is very important in a democratic state.
“If they arrest Governor Natembeya, we want to assure them that he will be accorded firm protection under the law and he will be adequately represented,” Kalonzo added.
This comes a day after NPS revealed that two police officers were injured after they tried to disperse a Linda Mwananchi rally in Kitale Town on Friday, October 17.
In a statement, NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the police had gone to disperse a night rally held by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Governor George Natembeya.
The officers lobbed tear gas to disperse the Linda Mwananchi supporters, who retaliated.
"Two law enforcement officers sustained injuries, and two government vehicles were damaged. Such conduct is unacceptable and has no place in a democratic society governed by the Constitution and the rule of law," Nyaga wrote.
Nyaga confirmed that the police have begun investigating the full circumstances of the incident and will take appropriate action against any person found culpable, in accordance with the law.
He further urged all political leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders to uphold peace, restraint, and respect for the rule of law at all times, fostering an environment beneficial to all.
“Individuals found contravening the Public Order Act, engaging in acts of violence, sponsoring criminal gangs, inciting supporters, or disrupting lawful gatherings will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law," Nyaga wrote.
