HELB has outlined the steps students who changed institutions can follow to update their details on the Higher Education Funding (HEF) Student Portal.
The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has outlined the steps students who changed institutions can follow to update their details on the Higher Education Funding (HEF) Student Portal.
In an update on Monday, October 19, the Board said the process applies to students who have transferred from one institution to another through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Students are required to log in to the HEF Student Portal using their credentials before navigating to the 'Update Institutions' or 'My Account' section on the menu.
Those who have completed successful inter-institution transfers through KUCCPS should select the 'Manage Transfers' option to update their records in line with their new placement.
After accessing the relevant section, students should enter their new registration numbers, courses or institution details accurately before saving and submitting the changes.

HELB said students must complete the process during the loan allocation stage, warning that changes would no longer be possible once disbursement begins.
"Updates must be done during the allocation stage, as details cannot be changed once disbursement starts," the Board said.

This comes days after HELB announced that it had disbursed student loans across seven batches.
In a notice on Monday, October 12, the Board published the batch numbers and asked students to cross-check with their institutions of higher learning whether the funds had been reflected.
According to HELB, students can also confirm whether the funds have reflected in their personal account numbers.
"The latest batch update is out! Check the poster to see if your batch number is among those successfully processed and disbursed," the notice read.
The batch numbers whose funds have been processed include: 007062, 007166, 007170, 007171, 007163, 007150 and 007148.
HELB had processed funds earlier for five batches for the 2026/27 academic year, including 007139, 007145, 007147, 007146 and 007132.
Meanwhile, the Board reached out to employed beneficiaries with incentives to clear the loans.
HELB announced that those who paid the loans in lump sums would enjoy great discounts on the loan interest.
"Your payslip deserves a break. Repay your HELB loan in lump sum and get up to 80% waiver on outstanding penalties. Don't miss this window! Send us a direct message to get started," the Board wrote.
