Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has dismissed reports of dropping out of the Nairobi Gubernatorial race.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 21, Babu flagged the reports circulating on social media as fake.
The lawmaker accused his opponents of being behind the propaganda and insisted he is still in the Nairobi gubernatorial race.
“My unworthy opponents have given up and are now banking on fake news. Hii Nairobi ilienda kitambo sana.
“The Gubernatorial race is between Babu Owino Vs Paul Ongili,” the Embakasi East MP wrote.

The flagged reports alleged that Babu was asked by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to drop his Nairobi gubernatorial bid and instead contest the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
The clarification comes a day after Gachagua hosted Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and the Linda Mwananchi team at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County.
In photos shared on Tuesday, October 20, Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas Rigathi welcomed the Linda Mwananchi team at their home.
"Welcome to Wamunyoro residence, my cousins from Linda Mwananchi. When we come together, great things Must happen," Gachagua wrote.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo were among the Linda Mwananchi team that accompanied Sifuna.
Gachagua was in the company of DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala and DCP Secretary General-designate John Methu.
The meeting was Gachagua's first engagement in Wamunyoro in nearly two months. However, during his trip to America, Gachagua closely followed the politics in Kenya and in Linda Mwananchi.
During his tour, he confirmed that he had called both Sifuna and Babu Owino over the infighting in Linda Mwananchi after their respective supporters turned on one another.
Gachagua claimed that he warned Sifuna and Babu that they are falling into a trap set by the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
He alleged that the push and pull between their supporters was part of an elaborate plan by the NIS to divide Linda Mwananchi because the outfit had caused panic in government.
