Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has revealed she attempted to help one of her staunch campaigners join the National Police Service (NPS) by forging a Form Four certificate.

Speaking during an interview on Friday, October 23, Nyamu said the supporter proceeded to the Police Training College in Kiganjo.

However, while in training, the supporter was arrested alongside 17 other recruits for forgery.

“I recently tried to help a very staunch campaigner of mine join the police force. She did not have a Form Four certificate, so we doctored it.

“She went to Kiganjo for training, but after investigations, she was arrested for forgery alongside 17 others,” Nyamu revealed.

The UDA-nominated senator said the supporter called her from a police station about the incident.

Further, Nyamu said the supporter and the 17 others were kicked out of the police training college over the incident.

“She called me while at a police station, and we were so happy that she had joined the police service. All those who had fake documents at Kiganjo were sent away,” Nyamu added.

This comes weeks after a former Assistant Elections Officer at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was fined Ksh80,000 after being found guilty of uttering a fake degree certificate.

In a statement on Monday, September 21, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) said the accused, George Kipyatich Kibor, will serve 8 months in prison in default of the fine.

“In its judgment delivered on September 17th 2026, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court found Mr. George Kipyatich Kibor guilty of uttering a false document and fined him Ksh 80,000, and in default, he is to serve eight months’ imprisonment,” the EACC said.

According to the commission, Kibor submitted a forged Bachelor of Business Management (Finance and Banking) degree certificate purportedly issued by Moi University.

The accused allegedly presented the certificate in support of his application for promotion from IEBC Grade 8 to Grade 7.

Kibor was subsequently arrested and charged before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on 10 March 2026 with forgery of a degree certificate and uttering a false document.
