The office of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned Kenyans against fake social media accounts impersonating the former first family.

The office of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned Kenyans against fake social media accounts impersonating the former first family.

In a statement on Tuesday, October 27, Office of the Fourth President Spokesperson Kanze Dena said the office operates only two official social media accounts, on Facebook and X.

Dena noted the accounts are listed as Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya on Facebook and Office of the 4th President of Kenya on X.

She emphasized that the two accounts are the only authorized platforms for official communication on behalf of Uhuru’s office.

“The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, wishes to inform the general public that the office operates only two official social media accounts,” read the statement in part.

Dena also clarified that Uhuru, his wife Margaret and their children do not operate personal social media accounts.

“The Office further wishes to clarify that H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, H.E. Margaret Kenyatta and their children do not operate any personal social media accounts,” she stated.

Dena urged Kenyans to exercise caution and disregard any other accounts, pages or profiles claiming to represent or speak on behalf of the former President and his family.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution and disregard any social media accounts, pages or profiles purporting to represent or speak on behalf of H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, H.E. Margaret Kenyatta or their children, other than the two official accounts listed above,” she added.

The clarification comes months after Dena dismissed claims that Retired Uhuru declined to meet DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua.

Kanze, in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, flagged a letter to be authored by her as 'fake news'.

According to the doctored document, Uhuru's office admits it received multiple requests for an audience with Gachagua, which were purportedly declined.
