Police say a lorry swerved to dodge an oncoming Succeed car and ploughed into a public service vehicle (PSV) travelling towards Nakuru. The driver of the PSV was one of the fatalities.
County Police Commander Wilberforce Sicharani, who confirmed the crash, said emergency teams ferried the wounded to several hospitals.
The six bodies were moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret.
Sicharani asked drivers to slow down and be more careful, pointing to a worrying increase in crashes. Police have not said how many people were aboard each vehicle, how many of the wounded are in serious condition, or what happened to the occupants of the Succeed.
